Introduction · · · · · ·
"Great Power Leadership" draws on the political determinism ideas of ancient Chinese philosophers and proposes a theory of moral realism, attributing the rise and fall of nations to political leadership. This theory is used to explain why China's influence is growing, providing a challenging view on the changes in the dominant position of great powers on the world stage.
In the book, the author attributes the transfer of international power to the fact that rising countries have stronger reform capabilities than dominant countries. Domestic leadership types can be divided into inaction, conservative, aggressive and combative; international leadership types can be divided into kingly, hegemonic, foolish and powerful. National leadership is a key factor in determining a country's foreign policy, political principles, ideology, etc. Therefore, political leaders of the same type have different attitudes towards reform and foreign strategic orientation. When the leadership types of dominant countries and rising countries are different, this difference may play a decisive role in reshaping the international landscape, international order, world center and even the entire international system.
In view of this, the author applies this theory to predict the impact of China's rise and the relative decline of the United States on international politics and world order in the next 10 years, and believes that the polarization between China and the United States will not lead to another Cold War, but the competition between China and the United States will shift the center of the world from Europe to East Asia. The book's analysis of the current international situation is neutral and objective, which helps readers clarify their thoughts and see the current complex international situation clearly.
