About the Author

Zhang Zhilu, a writer and playwright, has been nominated for the International Hans Christian Andersen Award and the International Lindgren Award.

His literary works include novels such as Thunderbolt Baby, Illegal Wisdom, For Whom the Cicada Sings, and Chinese Characters, and a collection of humanities stories, The Wronged Chinese Characters. His works have won the China Book Award, the China Outstanding Publications Award, the National Outstanding Children's Literature Award, the Song Qingling Children's Literature Award, and the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award. His novel Antelope Woodcarving and the fairy tale Traveling in the Cow's Stomach have been selected into primary and secondary school textbooks.
