About the Author · · · · · ·
Keigo Higashino is a famous Japanese writer. He was born in Osaka in 1958. In 1985, he made his debut with the 31st Edogawa Ranpo Award-winning work "After School" and began to gain fame. In 20 years, he has written more than 60 works, almost winning all the major awards in Japan. In 1998, "Secret" won the 52nd Japan Mystery Writers Association Award and was shortlisted for the 120th Naoki Prize; in 1999, "White Night Walk" was shortlisted for the 122nd Naoki Prize; in 2001, "Secret Love" was shortlisted for the 125th Naoki Prize; in 2003, "The Letter" was shortlisted for the 129th Naoki Prize. In 2006, "The Devotion of Suspect X" finally won the Naoki Prize, the highest honor in Japanese literature.
Most of his early works were written delicately and meticulously. As his writing skills deepened, especially after "White Night Walk", his writing style became more mature: the text was freshly polished, the narration was concise and fierce, the plot was ups and downs, and the story structure was almost incredible. In his masterpiece "The Devotion of Suspect X", both the narrative and reasoning were perfect: the best tricks, impeccable reasoning, appropriate foreshadowing, and the most ordinary but most difficult to guess suspense were greatly favored by the judges of the grand prize, and he won the Naoki Prize and the Honkaku Mystery Novel Award at the same time. He also received rave reviews from critics, the media and readers, creating a unique miracle in the history of Japanese mystery novels - he won the annual championship of the three major mystery novel rankings of "This Novel is Amazing", "Honkaku Mystery Novel Top 10", and "Weekly Literary Mystery Novel Top 10".
