Ba Jin (November 25, 1904 - October 17, 2005) was born in Chengdu, Sichuan. His original name was Li Yaotang. He was a modern writer, publisher and translator. His major works include the "Torrent Trilogy": "Family", "Spring" and "Autumn"; the "Love Trilogy": "Fog", "Rain" and "Lightning"; and the prose collection "Random Thoughts". In 1982, he won the "International Dante Literary Award".
