"Family", one of the three parts of the "Torrent" trilogy, describes the disintegration of the old feudal family and the rebellion of the young people. The story is concentrated in the eight or nine months from the winter of 1920 to the autumn of 1921, exposing the evils of the feudal autocratic system, tearing open the intrigues of the big family under the cover of warm relationships, exposing the shamelessness of the so-called "poetry and etiquette passed down from generation to generation" feudal big family, and also describes the awakening and resistance of a generation of young people awakened by new ideas, thus announcing the inevitable collapse of this feudal big family.

Ba Jin (November 25, 1904 - October 17, 2005) was born in Chengdu, Sichuan. His original name was Li Yaotang. He was a modern writer, publisher and translator. His major works include the "Torrent Trilogy": "Family", "Spring" and "Autumn"; the "Love Trilogy": "Fog", "Rain" and "Lightning"; and the prose collection "Random Thoughts". In 1982, he won the "International Dante Literary Award".
