【Content Introduction】
An ancient book restorer spent seven years searching for ancient handmade papermaking sites in 13 provinces and autonomous regions in China. She combined her personal experience with a professional perspective to investigate the traditional handmade papermaking skills and inheritance status of various places, and recorded every bit of the "paper-hunting" process. The words reveal her tireless persistence in exploring handmade papermaking, sketching a realistic picture of the contemporary Chinese traditional handmade paper manufacturing industry. The sense of responsibility and mission in the dark not only made her connected with paper, but also drove her to embark on an in-depth research journey to investigate the birthplace of ancient handmade paper. In the spirit of exploring traditional Chinese handmade papermaking, the author traveled to 13 provinces and autonomous regions including Zhejiang, Fujian, Shanxi, Jiangxi, and Guizhou, as far as Hotan in Xinjiang and the Tibetan Plateau at an altitude of nearly 3,700 meters, and personally brought back 22 kinds of ancient handmade paper samples described in the book, telling the current situation and inheritance of this intangible cultural heritage.
