"The sea is not deep, but missing someone is deeper than the sea."
This is the story of Rao Pingru's life.
When Rao Pingru was 87, his wife Mao Meitang, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, passed away. They had a rough life and were separated by fate for a long time. They finally had a stable residence in their old age, but old age and illness took their toll. Meitang became seriously ill and gradually lost her memory. She passed away first under Pingru's careful care.
For the next six months, Pingru had no way to relieve his sadness. He was sad every day before going to bed and after waking up. He could only linger in the old place to comfort himself. Later, he painted their story one by one, constructing and preserving the memory of an ordinary Chinese family in the 20th century, and also depicting the beautiful spiritual world of the Chinese people in the turbulent wind and rain.
In April 2020, Rao Pingru passed away in Shanghai and reunited with Meitang in heaven. The commemorative revised edition of "Pingru and Meitang" was revised according to Pingru's manuscript, and Zhu Yingchun redesigned the cover to commemorate this love of "love at first sight, lifelong attachment".
