About the Author · · · · · ·
Hermann Hesse (July 2, 1877 - August 9, 1962) was a German poet and novelist who could hardly be classified into any school of German literature. Hesse spared no effort to explore the various possibilities of human nature, that is, "human nature in an undivided state"[1]. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1946.
