Description
"Sadness and Wandering: A Selection of Baudelaire's Poetry" is an anthology of poems by French poet Charles Baudelaire, compiled and translated by poet and translator Yu Ruji. This book carefully selects sixty popular masterpieces from Baudelaire's classic poetry collection "Les Fleurs du Mal" and his prose poems "Le Spleen de Paris," re-edited and reordered by theme. It translates French poetry with truly poetic language, aiming to present the unique style of this great French poet to readers and offer them a new perspective and reading experience.
The book is divided into five chapters: "Ideal and Illusion," "Earthly Scenes," "Flowers of Evil," "Death and Melancholy," and "Gaze and Existence." These chapters explore Baudelaire's poetic world and creative philosophy from different angles, delving deeper into the poet's inner world. The book is presented in a bilingual Chinese-French format with Chinese annotations, opening a window for both Chinese and French readers to understand Baudelaire.
About the Author
Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) was a renowned French poet of the 19th century, a pioneer of Symbolist poetry, and one of the founders of modern poetry. He was hailed as "the Dante of a decadent age," and Rimbaud called him "the first seer, the king of poets, a true god." Famous for "Les Fleurs du Mal" and "Le Spleen de Paris," he integrated the hustle, solitude, and decadent aesthetics of urban life into his poetry, pioneering Symbolist poetry and profoundly influencing subsequent literature and art.
