About the Author:
Osip Mandelstam is a talented poet of the Russian Silver Age and a representative of the Acmeist school. His early works were influenced by French symbolism, but he later turned to neoclassicism and gradually formed his own unique style of poetry: rigorous form, strict rhythm, elegant classical charm, full of strong historical civilization and profound moral consciousness, and with a strong sense of tragedy. Mandelstam is known as "a poet for civilization and of civilization", one of the most influential poets in the world in the 20th century, and his poems are called "poems in poems".
About the Translator:
Wang Jianzhao is a poet, translator and critic. He was born in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province in October 1963. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at Beijing Foreign Studies University. His main part-time jobs include executive director of the Chinese Poetry Society, director of the Russian Literature Research Association, researcher at the Chinese Poetry Research Institute of Peking University, and researcher at the Foreign Poetry Research Center of Capital Normal University. He has published dozens of books, including "The Friendship between Chinese and Russian Characters", "Modernist Poetry in 20th Century China", "Twenty-four Lectures on Modern Russian Poetry", "The Crow Age of Poetry", "One Second More than Forever", "Selected Poems of Wang Jianzhao", "Selected Poems of the Golden Age of Russia", "Selected Poems of the Silver Age of Russia", and "The Voice of Memory - Selected Poems of Akhmatova".
