Introduction
On January 31, 1936, Faulkner finally finished writing Absalom, Absalom!, his masterpiece. As the final work in the Yoknapatawpha family tree novel, he also specially compiled a chronicle and a family tree for this book, and personally drew a map of Yoknapatawpha County.
Through the narration or interpretation of Miss Rocha, Mr. Compson, Quentin, Shreve and others, this book reproduces the story of the disintegration of the Sadburn family in Yoknapatawpha County from 1860 to around 1910, thus showing the various conflicts between people and between people and their own hearts, and deeply touching upon and exploring many universal issues such as the historical guilt of the American South.

He wrote 19 novels and more than 100 short stories in his lifetime, most of which are set in the fictional Yoknapatawpha County, known as the "Yoknapatawpha Dynasty". His representative works include "The Sound and the Fury", "As I Lay Dying", "Absalom, Absalom!" and "Go, Moses". He won the 1949 Nobel Prize in Literature for "his powerful and artistically incomparable contribution to contemporary American fiction".
