Emil Ludwig
One of the greatest biographers of the 20th century. He became famous in 1920 with "Goethe's Life", and later became world-renowned with "Napoleon's Life". His major works include "Michelangelo's Life" and "Lincoln's Life". He pioneered the biographical writing method that combines historical description with literary creation, focusing on the meticulous psychological portrayal and character analysis of the protagonist, vividly reproducing the image of the characters of the times in front of readers, and then created a new school of biographical writing.
Liang Xijiang is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the German Department of Shanghai International Studies University, and also serves as the deputy director of the Sino-German Humanities Research Center. He is a Shanghai Shuguang scholar. His research interests include the history of German linguistics, the history of German science and technology, German romanticism, and Austrian 20th century literature. He has translated works such as "The Biography of Napoleon", "The Slow Homecoming", "The Genealogy of Morality", and "When the Stars of Humanity Shine".
