·Authoritative. The Dunhuang Painting Academy was established in 1993 and has been deeply engaged in the field of Dunhuang art for 30 years. In the Dunhuang ancient clay-copying technique, the restoration effect is extremely outstanding. It is the only institution in China that uses this technology to copy Dunhuang murals. This is the first time that the book has been published, showing the readers the clay-copying murals that have been treasured for many years.
· Scarcity. The Dunhuang Painting Academy has completed the copying of a total area of more than 2,000 square feet, many of which are special cave murals that are rarely seen by ordinary people. Many are full-size copies, using the ancient method of 1:1 reproduction, which restores the original appearance of the murals to the greatest extent. The most precious works published this time are 61 copies of paintings from 24 caves that are not open to the public in Mogao Grottoes, and 17 copies of paintings from 6 special caves, which are scarce.
Comprehensive. This book takes the era as the clue and picks out the most representative works of each dynasty from the Northern Liang Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty in the treasure of Mogao Grottoes, including the very familiar "Nine-Colored Deer Jataka Story", "Rebounding Pipa", "Water Moon Guanyin" and various flying apsaras and caissons, etc., which comprehensively and systematically show the beauty of Mogao Grottoes.
· Beautiful. The Dunhuang and Yulin murals included in this book are all treasures among treasures, and are extremely outstanding in terms of picture effects. They fully present the complexity, luxury, symmetry, and exquisiteness of traditional Chinese murals. It is also a rare model for artistic copying.
· Healing. The ancient Dunhuang murals creators gained spiritual nourishment by creating murals, and modern people can still gain inner strength by copying Dunhuang murals. I have heard that as long as you pick up a pen, you can gain inner freedom. The predecessors who copied people have also set a practical example for you. It is not just a feeling, but also a pursuit of an ideal state of life. Through line drawing stroke by stroke, you will find that it is not that difficult to contact the Dunhuang murals, and the beautiful and peaceful world in the murals can also appear around you.
