Jean-Paul Sartre (1905-1980) was the most important French philosopher, representative of existentialism, writer, critic and social activist in the 20th century. Sartre wrote many works in his life, including philosophical works such as "Imagination" and "Being and Nothingness"; literary works include the novel "The Road to Freedom", the novel "Nausea", the short story collection "The Wall", the plays "The Flies" and "The Submissive Whore". Shen Zhiming (1938- ) is a scholar living in France. Born in Suzhou. He graduated from Shanghai International Studies University in 1961 and taught at Shanghai International Studies University, Beijing International Studies University and Paris VII University. Since 1997, he has been engaged in Sino-French economic and cultural exchanges. He has written "On the Suspense of Sartre's Dramas" and "A Brief Discussion on Aragon"; translated "Wandering in the Dark Night", "A Life in Words", "The Age of Death", "Selected Works of Proust"; edited "Collected Works of Sartre" (co-edited) and "Complete Works of Camus" (co-edited).
