"Proust's Private Dictionary" is one of the six private dictionaries in the series, co-written by French writer Jean-Paul Entoine and his son Raphael Entoine. This book adopts the form of an eclectic "private dictionary" and lists the concepts, characters, objects, places and other keywords related to Proust and "Remembrance of Things Past" in alphabetical order. While telling the details of Proust's life and his interactions with the French literary and art circles at that time, the author also explained the details of Proust's works with a smart writing style, brainstormed around Proust and "Remembrance of Things Past", and used a scattered perspective to show the full picture of Proust's life and writing.
A true Proust fan should read "Remembrance of Things Past" at least four times in his life. The first time is to read it in fragments based on intuition; the second time is to study it in a solid and rigorous manner; the third time is to feel the depth and comfort of each fragment in the novel after experiencing the pain of love; and the last time is to read it decisively after reaching old age and losing vanity and gain and loss. In this book, the father and son of Entowan use many ways to interpret Proust's works. They disagree freely, sometimes corroborate each other, and sometimes refute each other. When reading these familiar words, they also renovate and transform Proust.
