Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
Many stories in Grimm's Fairy Tales are also widely circulated in other European countries. For example, as early as 1697, France published "Mother Goose Tales or Stories of the Past with Moral Lessons" by the famous writer Charles Perrault. Although the length is short, it already includes "Little Red Riding Hood", "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty in the Woods", "Blue Beard" and "Puss in Boots". They are similar to the content collected and compiled by the Grimm brothers later. Strictly speaking, whether looking at the source of the subject matter or the artistic characteristics, "Grimm's Fairy Tales" are typical European folk fairy tales. Grimm's Fairy Tales, the language that makes generations of children grow up happily and healthily, accompanied me when I grew up. Ah, those happy memories of childhood... This is a magical country with a blue sky, a vast land, dense forests and a deep ocean. There are also kind and magical fairies and elves, handsome princes and beautiful princesses, poor but hardworking and brave farmers, and beautiful girls who have suffered miserable and sympathetic experiences...
About the Author · · · · · ·
The Grimm brothers, Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859), were both collectors and compilers of German folk literature. They were born in official families and studied law at the University of Marburg. They also worked at the Kassel Library and served as professors at the University of Geyingen. In 1841, they both became academicians of the Grimm Academy of Sciences. They jointly compiled the "Children and Family Fairy Tales" (the last edition was published in 1857, with a total of 216 stories). Among them, "Cinderella", "Snow White", "Little Red Riding Hood", "The Brave Little Tailor" and other famous stories have become masterpieces loved by children all over the world. In addition, the Grimm brothers began to collect German folk tales in 1808 and published two volumes of "German Legends", a total of 585 stories. They also compiled academic works such as "German Grammar" (1819-1837), "History of the German Language" (1848) and the first four volumes of "German Dictionary" (1852), which contributed to the development of Germanic linguistics.
