👁Introduction
"In Every Sentence Sit Other Eyes" is a collection of essays, which brings together nine articles by Herta Müller, each with a different theme. The author uses cold, surreal poetic language to express her inner feelings about the real environment and her feelings about the displaced life. In summary, the different articles all show the author's concern for the true dignity of humanity and the poet's mind.
First published in 2003, this book is an outstanding prose work by this Nobel Prize winner, which expounds on the themes of her novels and her life insights in a clear and direct style, allowing you to better enter the author's spiritual world. The author's dual identity as a foreigner and the resulting bystander's perspective, coupled with her sensitivity to the language medium, make her articles very inspiring to read.
👁Celebrity recommendation
What cannot be said can still be written down. Because writing is a silent action, a labor from the brain to the hands. - Herta Müller
This book is an excellent entry point into this unique and accomplished writer, with descriptions of interrogation and repression interspersed with the author's sharp and witty comments on language.
—Mandy White (German translator)
Herta Müller is a writer who should not be ignored. She is like a ruler, measuring the times, language and fiction, as well as the readers and herself.
