Introduction · · · · · ·
"The Goddess of the Luo River" is a famous poem written by Cao Zhi, a writer of the Wei State during the Three Kingdoms period.
Luoshen, also known as Mi Fei, is a goddess in ancient Chinese mythology and legends. She is said to be the daughter of Fuxi, who drowned in the Luo River and thus became the goddess of the Luo River.
This poem tells the story of Cao Zhi's encounter with the goddess of Luo River and their mutual love when he was passing by Luo River on his way back to his fiefdom from the capital. The image of the goddess of Luo River is extremely beautiful, and the love between man and goddess is ethereal and blurred. The author expresses his infinite sadness and melancholy.
Ye Luying, a young painter who graduated from the China Academy of Art, was inspired by this beautiful story and reinterpreted it with her brush. Ye Luying combined traditional Chinese painting style with modern comic skills, and used modern painting art to fully display the artistic conception and charm of traditional Chinese stories. This work was a great success after it was released, winning many awards including the Gold Award of the 13th China Animation Golden Dragon Award* Illustration Award, and was featured on CCTV's "National Treasure" program, and was exhibited on the same stage with Gu Kaizhi's masterpiece "The Goddess of the Luo River", winning the love of the audience.
Yu Zhiying, a famous children's literature writer and children's book translator, has adapted the ancient poems into modern texts while staying true to the original tone. She recreates the scenes of the goddess of Luo River emerging from the water, falling in love at first sight, the gathering of the fairies, and finally the goddess of Luo River's melancholy departure. Her words are exquisite and appropriate, her writing is delicate and euphemistic, and she shows the beauty of the goddess of Luo River movingly.
