The first copyrighted poetry collection of Bukowski in China
I always hold the bottle of wine in one hand and watch the twists, blows and darkness of life... For me, survival means living with nothing.
--Bukowski
Wordsworth, Whitman, Williams, and the Beats, in their own respectable generations, pushed poetry toward a more natural language. Bukowski pushed it further.

Introduction
If you have the ability to love
Love Yourself First
But always be aware of the
possible
Whatever the reason for this failure
Looks right or wrong -
Tasting death early is not necessarily
bad thing.
Outside of churches, bars and museums
Like a spider
endure--
Time is everyone's cross

About the Author · · · · · ·
Charles Bukowski (1920-1994) is an American poet. He was born in Andernach, a small town in western Germany, and moved to the United States with his parents when he was three years old. At the age of nineteen, he studied at Los Angeles City College. Before graduating from college, he was kicked out of the house by his father for writing "obscene" novels. His mother secretly provided him with financial assistance. He published many works in underground publications and received a large number of rejection letters. At the age of thirty-five, he decided to give up writing and began a decade-long dissolute life, which became a rich source of his later creations. On March 9, 1994, Bukowski died of leukemia.
