Description
Introduction
Our company's "Complete Works of Wang Yangming" uses the 38-volume edition of the Complete Works of Wang Wencheng engraved by Xie Tingjie in the sixth year of the Longqing reign of the Ming Dynasty, which is kept in the Zhejiang Library, as the base text for punctuation, and uses the Wenyuange edition of the Complete Library in Siku Quanshu, the Sibu Beiyao edition, the Basic Chinese Studies Series edition, the Zhonghua Library edition, and the Complete Works of Wang Yangming published in Taiwan and Japan as reference texts. If there are errors or omissions in the original text or differences from other editions, collation notes will be provided.
The complete work consists of 41 volumes, volumes 1 to 31 are Wang Yangming's own writings; volumes 32 to 38 are appendices: Volume 32 is a collection of old unpublished quotations, poems and essays, which is compiled and sorted by the editor on the basis of previous collections and originally unpublished quotations, poems and essays of Wang Yangming, totaling 28 pieces; Volumes 33 to 37 are Chronicles 1, 2, and 3 and Appendices 1 and 2 to the Chronicle; Volumes 38 and 39 are Records of Family Virtues and Appendices to Records of Family Virtues; Volume 40 is Imperial Edicts, Sacrificial Orations, and Biographies, including one imperial edict at the beginning of the original volume and twelve sacrificial orations and biographies added by the editor of this book; Volume 41 is Prefaces and Postscripts, including seven prefaces at the beginning of the original volume and thirty-eight prefaces, postscripts, inscriptions, etc. about Wang Yangming's works or the entire book added by the editor of this book. The authors of these elegies, biographies, prefaces and postscripts ranged from Wang Yangming's disciples or friends to literati and scholars in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. Most of them were famous figures of the time. Their works are of reference value for studying Wang Yangming's life, works, academic achievements and thoughts.
This book is a revised version of the 41-volume "Complete Works of Wang Yangming" published by our publishing house in 1992. It not only revises some errors and omissions in the 47 biographies, elegies, prefaces and postscripts added in Volumes 40 and 41 of the original 1992 edition, but also corrects the punctuation and typographical errors of the original 1992 edition. At the same time, the font size is enlarged to make the layout more open, making it a more complete and easier to read complete works.
