【Content Introduction】
Sylvia Plath is a representative of "confessional" poetry and the first poet to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize after her death. She is good at digging into the deepest inner world. In her works, the light and shadow of life are intertwined, the issues of life and death are debated, and strong emotions and rigorous poetic style are balanced.
The Spirits is Plath's last work, with a unique style, sophisticated techniques, and a melancholy temperament and sad mood. The complete version of The Spirits translated by Chen Li and Zhang Fenling includes two parts: 41 poems from "Plath's own edition" and 14 poems from "Hughes's edited edition", as well as seven Chinese translations of Plath's poems and manuscripts written for the BBC radio program "Plath's New Poems". It strives to fully present Plath's swan song about the desire for life and the art of death.
