The edited version of Dream of the Red Chamber published by People's Literature Publishing House began with the annotated version published in 1953 under the name of "Writers Publishing House". It is based on Cheng Yi's version, with punctuation revisions by Zhou Ruchang, Zhou Shaoliang, Li Yi and others, and annotations by Qi Gong. It has unique academic value and has been reprinted and revised many times, which has a great influence on readers. Later, due to the publication of the new annotated version of Dream of the Red Chamber by the Red Research Institute, this version was discontinued in 1981. 2018 is the 65th anniversary of its publication.
