Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
We often hear people say that art is important, but we are rarely told exactly why it is important. Now, two leading voices in popular culture, Alain de Botton and John Armstrong, answer this intimate but mundane question that plagues us all.
Why doesn't my job bring me more satisfaction?
Why does other people's lives seem more glamorous?
How can I improve my relationship with my partner?
Why is politics so depressing?

Alain de Botton selected 150 classic paintings, architecture and design works, and freely interspersed the four major themes of "love", "nature", "money" and "politics". He was profound, witty and vivid. He explained the function of art from a new perspective: art can be a way of healing, proposing effective solutions to many problems in life, so that we can face the ultimate destiny of mankind calmly.
