Description

Introduction · · · · · ·
The death of Socrates was a watershed in ancient Greek philosophy and one of the important cultural events in the history of Europe and even the world.

This book contains three dialogues of Plato: "Apology", "Crito" and "Phaedo" - which respectively record Socrates' experiences during the trial, after being imprisoned and before serving his sentence. These three dialogues fully show Socrates' views on himself, the value of life, life and soul, who was willing to devote himself to faith and truth. While letting us appreciate his brilliant personality and unique ideological charm, we can better understand how the ancient Greeks combined philosophy with life.

About the Author
Plato (427-347 BC), an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of Socratic dialogue, is collectively known as the "Three Sages of Greece" with his teacher Socrates and his student Aristotle. Born into a political family in Athens, Plato originally planned to go into politics. However, due to various reasons, and the death of his teacher Socrates, Plato became completely disillusioned with the democratic system at the time and began to travel around Europe to study. At the age of 40, Plato returned to Athens and founded the "Academy", which was the first higher education in the West. Plato, who connected the past and the future, almost single-handedly created the field of philosophy itself, and had an indelible impact on Western philosophy and world culture.
