Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
This book is a transcript of a series of lectures given by the poet Wang Wei at the China Academy of Art from 2019 to 2020.
The lecture was themed "On the Poetic Spirit" and consisted of 15 sessions. Starting from classic poetry texts from different periods such as "Little Gidding", "The Bronze Horseman", "Poetic Interpretation", "The Twelve", "Poetic Theory", and "Victory", Wang Wei deeply analyzed important topics such as "What is the mainstream", "Intersection moments", "Style issues", and "Poetry and truth" that are cutting into the present from history, and had a rich understanding of world literature and the history of thought.
“In this series of courses, we will read poems and poets directly, rather than purposefully going around to theorists and “reading” them in their retellings. We will read poems directly as not only irreplaceable aesthetic facts but also spiritual events, simply as readers, not as self-theorizing prejudicers.”
