Description

Introduction
Deng Xiaoping profoundly influenced the course of Chinese and world history, and also changed the fate of every contemporary Chinese. To interpret Deng Xiaoping’s political career and the logic of his behavior is to interpret contemporary China and the historical changes behind personal destinies.
Professor Ezra Vogel of Harvard University has devoted ten years to complete the masterpiece "Deng Xiaoping Era", which is a panoramic description of Deng Xiaoping's ups and downs in life and China's thrilling and rugged road of reform and opening up. Based on rich historical materials, important research results at home and abroad, archival materials and numerous exclusive interviews, the author has conducted an in-depth analysis of Deng Xiaoping's personal character and governing style, and has made a complete and unique interpretation of China's reform and opening up history. The book contains many characters and events, including a detailed interpretation of the relationship between Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yun and others, as well as an in-depth analysis of major events and decisions such as the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee, the transition of power, the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, the trial of political reform, special economic zones, one country, two systems, and the 1992 Southern Tour. The book is rigorous in its arguments, clear in its context, distinct in its views, and vivid in its narration. It strives to make the characters' words and deeds conform to the historical context, and sometimes has unique views on the historical process of reform and opening up, which is thought-provoking and is praised as a "monumental" work on Deng Xiaoping research.
Understand "The Era of Deng Xiaoping", understand this history, and understand our own present and future as we "still live in the era of Deng Xiaoping".
