The Book of Incense is a collection of the incense books handed down from generation to generation, including the incense books "Xiangcheng", "Xiangpu" and "Chen's Incense Book". It starts with the types of spices, the origin of the spices, and anecdotes, and explains the characteristics, extraction methods, incense recipes, and fumigation methods of famous incense products; incense burners, fumigation balls, sachets, incense boxes, incense trays and other incense utensils; historical stories and anecdotes related to incense; and poems and essays on incense by literati and writers of all dynasties. The editor also added special knowledge on the identification of the authenticity of spices, collection, and incense burning etiquette, which fully reflects the appearance of ancient Chinese incense culture.

About the Author
Zhou Jiazhou, a native of Yangzhou, was a collector in the Ming Dynasty. He lived between the Jiajing and Wanli periods of the Ming Dynasty and was good at mounting and other crafts. His book "Xiang Cheng" was a collection of Chinese incense culture and was published in the Xinsi year of the Chongzhen reign. He also wrote "Zhuanghuang Zhi".

Hong Chu, also known by his courtesy name Jufu, was a Jinshi in the Northern Song Dynasty and the nephew of Huang Tingjian. He was a man of great literary talent and wrote many books.

Chen Jing, courtesy name Zizhong, was a native of Henan Prefecture (Luoyang), the Western Capital, in the late Northern Song Dynasty.
