Description

"The Screwtape Letters", also translated as "Letters from Hell", is a collection of purely imaginary correspondence. The two parties corresponding are "Screwtape," a high-ranking Senior Tempter, and "Wormwood," a junior tempter, who are uncle and nephew. The two demons exchange tricks for tempting humans through letters, maliciously exposing the ugliness and "scars" of human nature. However, while the two demons pretend to be in cahoots on the surface, they are also secretly scheming against each other, hoping to ultimately "devour" the other. In the book, C.S. Lewis unleashes his imagination, vividly depicting the devil's tone, and through the devil's mouth, deeply explores human nature, making readers reflect after laughing, seeing through the true motives in their own consciousness, and recognizing their true selves. "The Screwtape Letters" demonstrates C.S. Lewis's profound and seasoned insight into human nature, and his clear understanding of the false clamor of the world.

About the Author
C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) was a brilliant British writer of the 20th century. At the age of 26, he was appointed to a professorship at Oxford University and was hailed by his contemporaries as "the greatest Oxonian." In 1954, he was appointed Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English Literature at Cambridge University, a title he held until his retirement.
Throughout his life, he accomplished three very different careers, earning him the moniker "the three C.S. Lewises": first, a distinguished literary historian and critic at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, whose representative works include "English Literature in the Sixteenth Century Excluding Drama" (part of the Oxford History of English Literature). Second, a popular science fiction and children's literature writer, whose representative works include "The Space Trilogy" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" (seven books). Third, a popular Christian theologian and speaker, whose representative works include "Mere Christianity", "The Four Loves", "The Great Divorce", and "The Screwtape Letters" (also known as "Letters from Hell").
