About the Author
Jay Carderin is a native New Yorker, born and raised in New York. The Los Angeles Times commented that his first book, Form.Fit and Fashion, is "a fashion bible for fashion designers and fashion lovers, containing all the secret rules about fashion." After moving from New York to Boston, he found that the local fashion atmosphere was strong, so he decided to settle in Boston and make it his home. He served as the managing director of the Boston Fashion Week that was subsequently established. His position as market creative director at the Boston Fashion Institute (SFD) provides him with many opportunities to participate in project research and get close to the community. He is also a liaison for cooperation between factories. He also teaches fashion and career development courses at the Boston Fashion Institute. In addition, he has taught at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Burdett College and Lasell College. His work as a career development consultant and powerful speaker has provided him with many opportunities and venues to share his views on art and fashion, including at Harvard University, Wellesley College, Tufts University, Lesley University, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Peabody Essex Museum, the Boston Public Library, and the Hatch Festival in Bozeman, Montana.
As a designer, his work has appeared in many famous fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Elle, Boston Globe, and Boston Globe Sunday Magazine. He has also written many columns and articles for many newspapers, magazines, and websites. He is a competent fashion editor and fashion photographer, and a fashion consultant for a TV station. He laid a solid foundation for himself as early as the High School of Fashion Industries in Queens, New York, where he benefited greatly from the work philosophy and pursuit of excellence that the school has always advocated. One thing he has always been very passionate about in his career is giving back to the community. He walks the talk. He works for local charities; discovering and cultivating new talents from a grassroots perspective is also the driving force of his work as the regional director of Boston International Fashion Group.
