Description

Introduction · · · · · ·
"Lao Qiao's Wandering Picture Book" is a hand-painted diary of travel stories by French artist Lao Qiao. Lao Qiao is the Chinese nickname of this French artist, and his Chinese name is Qiao Liwei. After graduating from the Academy of Art, Lao Qiao did not immediately enter the workplace like most people, but started a backpacking trip alone. Lao Qiao's travels were not deliberately planned. He faced nature and the other world like a child, fully enjoying every surprise and accident. Traveling is a rest for him, an adventure, and a reset for his departure, which allows him to bravely face the challenges that will never be absent in his life.

In "City Impressions: Shanghai, China", Lao Qiao strolled all the way from People's Square to the old city, and from the old city to the Bund, seeing the hustle and bustle of the alleys and the modernity of the skyscrapers. In his eyes, Shanghai is both traditional and modern, lazy and energetic. When you look at the portraits he painted of Shanghai, you will feel unfamiliar and can't help but marvel: it is obviously a very familiar city, but for the first time, you discover its delicate and layered beauty through someone else's perspective.

About the Author
Old Joe, a French artist and traveler, started his career of painting while walking around France the year he graduated from the Paris School of Decorative Arts.

Qiao Liwei is his Chinese name, and we affectionately call him "Lao Qiao." He has been to China dozens of times, traveled to many Chinese cities, tasted various local delicacies, and has a special affection for this country.

Every time he travels, he travels light, with a backpack (he named it Wilson) carrying all the luggage: necessary equipment, indispensable paper and pen. He returns to nature, stays away from the Internet, uses paper and pen instead of electronic devices, sketches the scenery along the way, and records what he sees, hears, and feels, which is old-fashioned and a bit difficult.

Old Joe is a very lovely "life observer" with a keen insight into different cultures. He feels the similarities and differences of other worlds with curiosity and tolerance, and feels the kindness and warmth during the journey. Maugham said: "If a person can observe the falling leaves and shy flowers, and appreciate everything from the details, life can't do anything to him." And Old Joe is such a person.
