Introduction
"After reading Lu Xu's new book, my room was overgrown with weeds." - Bi Gan (director)
【Content Introduction】
"Yaksha Crossing the River" is a new fantasy realist short story collection by the young and cutting-edge writer Lu Xu, which includes 10 works. In the dream, memory, symbol and accidental ripples, people are obsessed and the world is deformed: there are modern interpretations of the Yaksha legend and the Classic of Mountains and Seas, disassembly and parody of "The Metamorphosis", and unsolved cases caused by obsession with Argento's movies and Fibonacci curves... The themes involve historical myths, folk tales, semiotics, and lead yellow movies. The works are full of changing, shaking but decisive thinking, sharp and exciting, mysterious and misty, absurd but wonderful, the plot is full of mystery, often with bizarre reversals, and fascinating.
The author is good at writing about personal hesitation and breakthroughs in self-consciousness, body, identity, and situation through rich descriptions of scene details and character psychology. It has both Kafkaesque modernism and Edgar Allan Poe's dark romantic aesthetics. It is an exploration and attempt by contemporary young people to rebuild their inner order with imagination.
【Editor's recommendation】
1. The ideas are sharp and exciting, the atmosphere is fantastic and mysterious, and the story is suspenseful and absurd.
2. From the legend of Yaksha to the Classic of Mountains and Seas, from the Akintu to the Fibonacci curve... Use the spiritual illusion to explore the inner direction. Use bizarre settings to point to the secret confessions of the heart, and construct fascinating stories.
3. This is a unique work, with a strong southern and strange aesthetic temperament, combined with surreal deformation imagination, which is refreshing.
[Liu Liangcheng x Bi Gan x Yang Qingxiang jointly recommend]
Lu Xu's perception and description of natural things are appropriate and fascinating, and he can capture their spiritual connection with people, which adds a unique flavor to his novels. ——Liu Liangcheng (writer)
After reading Lu Xu's new book, my room was overgrown with weeds. - Bi Gan (director)
Lu Xu's writing has a high spiritual orientation, pointing to existence itself, and to the dark space within each of us. Lu Xu presents this space to readers with rich knowledge and words. ——Yang Qingxiang (poet, critic)
Lu Xu writes about creating something out of nothing, mistaking the fake for the real, and also writes about the quietness of noise, the shame of sincerity, and the alienation of passion. He regards the blindness given by fiction as an opportunity to observe again. ——Chen Zhiwei (young writer)
