Description

Introduction · · · · · ·

The Song Dynasty lasted for 300 years. Its military achievements were not as heroic as those of the Han and Tang Dynasties, and its political struggles were not as turbulent as those of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but it had a different humanistic style. This series of books aims to make that dusty history alive with popular and humorous writing, just like it happened around us, in the " present tense " rather than the " past tense " .

The second volume, "The Peak of Humanities", mainly tells the history of the three dynasties of Song Zhenzong Zhao Heng, Renzong Zhao Zhen, and Yingzong Zhao Shu, when the Song Dynasty entered its peak period.

During this period, the Song Dynasty, the Liao Kingdom to the north, and the Dangxiang regime to the northwest gradually formed a " three-legged tripod " . During the reign of Emperor Zhenzong, the Song Dynasty signed the " Chanyuan Alliance " with the Liao Kingdom , winning more than ten years of border peace. In a peaceful atmosphere at home and abroad, Zhao Heng, instigated by his ministers, staged an absurd heavenly book Fengshan. When Zhao Zhen succeeded to the throne, he was still young, and his adoptive mother, Empress Dowager Liu, was in charge of the government. Ten years later, Zhao Zhen took power. Facing internal and external troubles, he vigorously recruited talents. Fan Zhongyan, Fu Bi, Di Qing and others dealt with the affairs of Xixia, Liao Kingdom, and Guangnan, and Han Qi, Bao Zheng, Ouyang Xiu and others presided over government affairs and culture. In order to enrich the country and strengthen the army, Zhao Zhen appointed Fan Zhongyan, Fu Bi and others to implement the new policy, which was known as the " Qingli New Deal " in history. Unfortunately, the new policy was only a flash in the pan.
