Text by: Niimi Nankichi

Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1913, he was one of the important Japanese fairy tale writers in the first half of the 20th century, and he was as famous as Kenji Miyazawa and Miaki Ogawa. Compared with Kenji Miyazawa, he was better at short essays, often expressing a vivid story in a few hundred words. His main works include "Little Fox A Quan", "Little Fox Buys Gloves", "Last Year's Tree", "Grandpa's Kerosene Lamp", etc. His works are beautifully written and delicately emotional. They are still widely loved today, and many of his works have been selected into Japanese elementary school Chinese textbooks. In 1943, Niimi Nankichi died of tuberculosis. He was less than 30 years old that year, but he created a large number of beautiful fairy tales for children in his short life. His works have had a significant impact on Japanese children's literature thereafter.
