This is the last book published by the famous French philosopher Gilles Deleuze during his lifetime, and also his only work that mainly discusses literature. The book contains 17 articles that were published or unpublished at the time. These articles revolve around the central topic of "writing", and take the works of many writers and philosophers such as Lewis Carroll, Beckett, Melville, Lawrence, and Spinoza as examples to discuss how writing can:

About the Author
Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995) is a famous French postmodernist philosopher, known for creating many insightful new philosophical concepts and making unique contributions to metaphysics and philosophy of art. Together with Félix Guattari, they created the concept of deterritorialization and made a comprehensive critique of psychoanalysis and capitalism. His major academic works include Différence et répétition (1968), Logique du sens (1969), and L'Anti-Œdipe (1972) and A Thousand Plateaus (1980), co-authored with Guattari, which have important influences in many fields such as philosophy, literature, film and painting.
About the Translator
Liu Yunhong is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Nanjing University, and a translator. She has translated famous French literature and social science works such as My Best Memories, Nanon, The Little Prince, The Intellectuals and the Passion of France, The Cursed Part (co-translation), and Milan Kundera: A Writer's Life (co-translation).
Cao Danhong is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Nanjing University. She has translated famous French literature and social science works such as The History of Wandering, Ode to Everyday Life: On Dutch Painting in the Seventeenth Century, Plato's Republic, Mallarmé: The Politics of the Siren, Impossibility, and Another Language in Voices (co-translated).
