Haruki Murakami is a Japanese writer. He was born in 1949. He started writing at the age of 29. His debut work "Hear the Wind Sing" won the Japan Group Newcomer Award. The Japanese version of "Norwegian Wood" published in 1987 has sold more than 10 million copies. "1Q84" published in 2009 set an unprecedented record of selling 1 million copies in 12 days after its release. It is hailed as the great beginning of the new millennium of Japanese literature. In addition to writing, he is keen on translating English literature, running, jazz, etc.
The translator is Shi Xiaowei, a translator and scholar. His translations include 1Q84, After Dark, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, and The Teacher's Bag.
