The Grimm brothers, Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859), were both collectors and compilers of German folk literature. They were born in official families and studied law at the University of Marburg. They also worked at the Kassel Library and served as professors at the University of Geyingen. In 1841, they both became academicians of the Grimm Academy of Sciences. They jointly compiled the "Children and Family Fairy Tales" (the last edition was published in 1857, with a total of 216 stories). Among them, "Cinderella", "Snow White", "Little Red Riding Hood", "The Brave Little Tailor" and other famous stories have become masterpieces loved by children all over the world. In addition, the Grimm brothers began to collect German folk tales in 1808 and published two volumes of "German Legends", a total of 585 stories. They also compiled academic works such as "German Grammar" (1819-1837), "History of the German Language" (1848) and the first four volumes of "German Dictionary" (1852), which contributed to the development of Germanic linguistics.
