About the Author

About the Author:

[Japan] Aoki Masaru (1887-1964), courtesy name Junya and pseudonym Miyang. A famous Japanese sinologist, doctor of literature, professor at Yamaguchi University, member of the Japan Academy, member of the Japan Society for Chinese Studies, and researcher of Chinese literature and drama. In the 1920s, Aoki Masaru visited China for academic study and had direct contact with Hu Shi. In 1923, Aoki Masaru served as an assistant professor at Tohoku University in Sendai, and later served as a professor at Kyoto University and Yamaguchi University. In the 1930s, Aoki Masaru was praised by the Chinese academic community as "one of the most prominent new sinologists in Japan." His works on China include "A Study of Chinese Literature and Art", "A History of Modern Chinese Drama", "Talks on Chinese Literati Painting", "Qinqi Calligraphy and Painting", and "The Art of Jin Dongxin".

About the Translator:

Li Jingsong, a master of art theory from the China Academy of Art, completed the article "A Review of Japanese Studies on Famous Paintings of All Ages" during his visiting scholar exchange at Tokyo University of the Arts. He has been engaged in the translation of Japanese art literature for several years. His translations include "History of Japanese Calligraphy" by Ming Ye Ming, "Records of Famous Paintings of All Ages" by Nakamura Shigeo, "Tomb Carvings and Stone Sculptures of the Western Han Dynasty - Taking the Tomb of Huo Qubing as an Example" by Mizuno Seiichi, "The Art of Jin Dongxin" and "Talks on Chinese Literati Painting" by Aoki Masao, etc.
