About the Author

Sylvia Plath (1932-1963)

A famous American poet and novelist, and a representative of the "confessional school" of poetry. His poems are passionate and cautious, revealing the inner world of individuals with powerful words, and giving poems a wider space for interpretation through imagery and techniques, which are hailed as a miracle of the 20th century. During his lifetime, Plath published the poetry collection "The Colossus and Other Poems" and the autobiographical novel "The Bell and Jar". His posthumous work "The Spirit" won worldwide acclaim. Twenty years after his death, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry "for changing the direction of American poetry creation."
