Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
The essay collection "The Wisdom of Flowers" was first published in 1907, and the book condenses Maeterlinck's thoughts and philosophical concepts.
From flowers that strive to break free from the shackles of stillness and run towards the vast world, to time that borrows its form from instruments such as clocks, hourglasses and sundials, to morality as an important law that limits the inner world; from Shakespeare's evergreen classic tragedy "King Lear", to the instinct that lurks in the body but defends life in times of crisis, to the issue of existence after death that people are constantly exploring... In the 11 essays included in this book, Maeterlinck widely explores themes such as wisdom, time, morality, instinct, and immortality, expressing his feelings about life and the mysteries of living. His writing is timeless and full of philosophy, triggering our thinking about life, destiny and the world.
