The general education of Southwest Associated University profoundly influenced a generation of Chinese scholars and laid a solid foundation for their achievements. This set of books attempts to present the general education courses of Southwest Associated University from multiple perspectives through the high-quality articles of 15 masters who have served as professors at Southwest Associated University, and to show the academic style of Southwest Associated University, as well as the teaching style and personality cultivation of masters such as Zhu Ziqing, Feng Youlan, and Chen Yinke. These articles are all written by masters in their respective fields of expertise. From them, we can not only see the masters' seriousness in learning and persistence in education, but also see the masters' figures who have always stood firm in the dramatic changes of the times behind these words.
The theme of this book is "Poetry Course". The book includes articles by six gentlemen, including You Guoen, Pu Jiangqing, Wen Yiduo, Zhu Ziqing, Xiao Difei, and Luo Yong, covering important poets, lyricists, and works in ancient China, and sorting out the origins and development of poetry in chronological order. This book demonstrates the inclusive, high-quality, and basic general education of Southwest Associated University through the explanation of the formation, development, and content of poetry, and further demonstrates the outstanding academic style of Southwest Associated University, as well as the novel, comprehensive, and cutting-edge academic achievements of each gentleman.
About the Author
Wen Yiduo (1899-1946), whose real name was Wen Jiahua, was a modern Chinese poet, scholar, and democratic fighter. In 1920, he published his first collection of modern poetry, Red Candle. In 1928, his collection of poetry, Dead Water, was published. In 1932, he became a professor of the Chinese Department of Tsinghua University. Later, he moved south with the university to Kunming and taught at Southwest Associated University. In 1946, he was assassinated by Kuomintang spies. There is a collection of Wen Yiduo's works.
