About the Author
Takeo Okuno
Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1926. A famous Japanese literary critic and honorary professor of Tama Art University. An outstanding researcher of Dazai Osamu and his literature. At the age of 25, he published "On Dazai Osamu" which shocked the literary world and later began literary criticism. In 1984, he won the Tairabayashi Yasuko Literature Award for "The Structure of Space"; in 1986, he won the Japan Institute of Architecture Centennial Cultural Award for "Original Landscape in Literature"; in 1994, he won the Minister of Culture Award for Art Selection for "The Legend of Yukio Mishima". In 1995, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun with Purple Ribbon. He died in 1997 and was posthumously awarded the Order of the Rising Sun with Small Ribbon, Fourth Class.
