About the Author · · · · · ·
Wang Xiaobo (1952-1997) is a contemporary Chinese writer.
Born in Beijing in 1952, he was admitted to Renmin University of China in 1978. In 1984, he went to study at the Center for East Asian Studies of the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. After returning to China, he taught at Peking University and Renmin University of China. In 1992, he became a freelance writer. His novels "The Golden Age" and "Future World" won the "United Daily News Novella Award" twice, and his film script "East Palace, West Palace" won the "Best Screenwriter Award at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival". He died of illness on April 11, 1997.
His representative works include the essay collections "A Maverick Pig" and "The Silent Majority", and the novels "The Golden Age", "The Silver Age" and "Hong Fu's Night Escape".
