About the Author

Alexandre Dumas (père, July 24, 1802 - December 5, 1870), known as Alexandre Dumas in the literary world, was a French romantic writer in the first half of the 19th century. He was born on July 24, 1802 in Villers-Cotterills, France (near Paris), of mixed black and white descent. Alexandre Dumas, also a writer, was born to him and a mistress. In his later years, he said that his son was the best work of his life. He was self-taught, and his works throughout his life were mainly novels and plays (up to 300 volumes), which can be called historical thrillers. The characteristics of his novels are unusual ideal heroes, rapidly developing plots, tense fighting actions, clear and complete structures, vivid and powerful language, and flexible and witty dialogues.
