"A Small Village Story, Educated Youth and the Commune" by Zhu Xiaoyang
Description
After graduating from high school, Fan Xiaoming, a young man who went to the countryside for re-education, was filled with revolutionary ideals in the social context of the time. In the hard labor and interpersonal relationships of a small group, he tried to become a hero, but he could not avoid jealousy, inferiority, arrogance, and desire for the opposite sex. The novel does not have a story of extreme sadness or joy, but instead uses plain and interesting language to describe the characters candidly and delicately, and truly records the social background of the 1970s and the lives of educated youth.
Zhu Xiaoyang is a professor at the Department of Sociology at Peking University. He mainly conducts research in political/legal anthropology, film and television anthropology, etc. He has published many works on social anthropology, among which "Small Village Story: Crime and Punishment" and "Small Village Story: Topography and Homeland" have received widespread attention.
