About the Author
Yasunari Kawabata (1899-1972) is a Japanese writer born in Osaka. In 1968, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature for his "keen feelings, superb narrative skills, and expression of the spiritual essence of the Japanese people", becoming the first Japanese writer to win the award.
