★Content Introduction
We live in a world with abundant materials, and various addictive substances that stimulate dopamine secretion are filling our lives. We are increasingly losing ourselves, unable to feel happiness, spiritually empty, and even depressed and painful. Based on this, Dr. Lembke explores the latest findings in addiction science, which explain why even though we pursue happiness relentlessly, we often end up in pain...
Dr. Lembke uses cases of patients who have suffered from addiction to incorporate these vivid stories into the book, and analyzes the brain's reward mechanism from a neuroscience perspective, hoping that we can benefit from the experiences and lessons of these patients. She tells us how to balance happiness and pain, and proposes effective solutions such as self-restraint strategies.
