The shop owner Debbie has just divorced. She has no sense of belonging to the local community, and her teenage daughter Sophie is confused and angry about leaving her familiar life. Molly can see that Debbie and Sophie are trying to adapt to their new living environment, and she hopes that she can help them and repay their kindness when she was in trouble.

Melissa Daly ​

She lives in Hertfordshire, England with her two cats, two children and husband. In 2011 , she published her memoir. The small town of Stow-on-the-Wolds in the Cotswolds inspired Melissa and became the setting for her novel Molly and the Cat Café.
