Introduction · · · · · ·
Wang Bang's first non-fiction documentary work. She lived in the UK for twelve years, living in low-rent housing, visiting second-hand shops, growing vegetables in the backyard, working in the fields, visiting rural social clubs, breaking into the Labour Party, and interviewing ordinary people in a foreign land... Taking "British Observation" as the starting point, starting from her own real situation and experience, she discusses a series of social reality issues such as poverty and system, family and elderly care, rural and urban, Brexit and Remain in the EU, culture and history. Her life is her ideological resource and the origin of her writing. Different from the "tourist-style" observation and record in general travel literature, she has been rooted in the local area for a long time. As a "person in life", she observes people and things in daily life such as food, clothing, housing, markets, neighbors, etc., constantly extending her horizons, touching on a series of social issues such as family, elderly care, medical care, and system, reflecting on the impact of globalization, and revealing the complex truth behind global monopoly capitalism. Long-term experience in media work and writing training make her narrative not only have a unique perspective, but also very appealing.
