He is currently a professor, library director, and doctoral supervisor at the School of Chinese Studies of Renmin University of China, and concurrently a director and deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Historical Society.

He is a famous scholar and expert in the study of "The Art of War" in China. He has published many books on "The Art of War" and has lectured on "The Art of War" on CCTV's "Lecture Room". His translation and annotation of "The Art of War" was recommended by the National Leading Group for the Compilation and Publication of Ancient Books. His co-authored "History of Chinese Military Thought" won the Fourth National Studies Ceremony National Studies Achievement Award.
